KOLKATA: A man in Bardhaman's Bhatar was arrested by police for setting local houses on fire. When interrogated, Arindam Bhattacharya confessed his crime. But what was more shocking that, he did that just to have some fun.

A farmer by profession, Arindam has set seven houses on fire before he was arrested. Not only that, after every such incident, he was the first to reach with water to douse the flames. Even the police officials are shocked to hear such case. Additional Police Super Priyabrata Roy said, 'initially we find it hard to believe. How can this be a hobby to someone? But he has confessed everything.'

According to psychiatrist Sujata Das, 'generally this comes out of revenge. We have seen people, who love to watch blood. Maybe he loves to watch fire. But different theory is also possible.' She also pointed out the fact that Arindam was the first to reach for help, 'maybe he tried to gain attention by doing that.' Read this story in Bangla

Arindam, the accused said, 'I have no mental problems. Earlier people used to blame me for all such incidents. Even when I had not done that. So I decided to start doing. Yes I have set houses on fire.' The young man had once tried to set his own house on fire too.

On August 29, Sahebgaunj's Uttam Dey's cowshed caught fire. The villagers told police that they have seen Arindam in the backside of the cowshed. When the police caught him, the 22-year-old confessed to his crime. OC of Bhatar police station, Pulak Mondal was shocked to know that Arindam has set 7 houses on fire. Embarrassed with her son's act, mother Krishna Bhattacharya said, "what can I say! He has set fire on our cowshed also."
