Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the country’s largest fuel retailer, increased diesel and petrol prices in the national capital by 18 paise per litre and 12 paise per litre, respectively, on Thursday, on the back of rising global crude oil prices.
Prices of diesel and petrol had earlier reached their peak on 29 May this year, when they were priced at Rs 69.31 per litre and Rs 78.43, respectively, in the national capital.
Fuel prices have been on the rise since 16 August on the back of Rupee depreciation and increase in global oil benchmark prates. Overall, petrol and diesel prices in Delhi have been increased by Rs 1.99 per litre and Rs 2.11 per litre, respectively, in August.
Similar fuel price revisions were implemented in other major cities today. Diesel prices were increased to Rs 74.24 per litre, Rs 73.88 per litre and Rs 72.78 per litre in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, respectively.
Petrol prices in the three cities were also raised to Rs 85.72 per litre, Rs 81.35 per litre and Rs 81.23 per litre, respectively.
