What was once The Collective NB’s 24-Hour Theatre Project is evolving.

And it has a new name to reflect that new look.

The group’s first ever 1440 Project will take place Saturday, Sept. 15 at Gallery X.

Why 1440 Project? Twenty-four hours = 1,440 minutes.

“We are expanding our 24 hr project to other genres of art and figured we should change the name,” The Collective NB posted on a Facebook event page.

The structure will be changed slightly, with additional creative writing forms joining playwriting. What stays the same is the 24-hour creative process.

As the group says:

“It will be very much the same process just with a new hipper, sleeker name. So if you don't know let me break it down in one sentence.

“All of the plays and some of the poetry and music you will experience that night will be written, rehearsed, produced and performed in 24 hrs!”

And it's free, thanks to the United Way of Greater New Bedford, The Collective states.

Starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 and running through 7 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 15, participants will toil over their art to present the most cohesive and entertaining product they can produce, a description of the event states.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, the show will begin. Then at 9 p.m. participants have a stumble through of the show they just created.

Doors for the first show open at 6:30 p.m. Doors for the stumble through open at 8:30 p,m,
