Vadodara: The pond of Chansad, the village where late Pramukh Swami Maharaj, was born will be developed on the lines of Kankaria lake in Ahmedabad.
The development of the pond is the first phase of making Chansad a Smart Village. The village had made the cut for the status due to its good civic amenities during a survey done in 2016.
Taluka development officer of Padra taluka, under which the Chansad village falls, Ninad Jani said that in the first phase the pond will be beautified and three ‘ghats’ will be created. The ‘ghats’ have been created for bathing for devotees and tourists. “A walkway will also be created on the periphery of the pond besides gazebo and other basic facilities,” Jani said. He added that a food court will also be made and a museum on the life of Pramukh Swami will also be developed. The foundation laying ceremony of the first phase was done on Thursday by Mahant Swami, the current spiritual head of BAPS Swaminarayan sect. The funds for making Chansad a Smart Village will be provided by the tourism department of the state government.
