Cricket: England win toss and bat against India in fourth test

SOUTHAMPTON, England (Reuters) - England captain Joe Root won the toss and elected to bat in the fourth test against India at the Ageas Bowl on Thursday.

England lead the five-test series 2-1 but were outplayed in the third test at Trent Bridge as the tourists fought back.

India are unchanged but England made two changes with spinner Moeen Ali and left-arm seamer Sam Curran brought in.

Batsman Ollie Pope is left out and seamer Chris Woakes is ruled out with a thigh injury.

England have a change at wicket-keeper where Jonny Bairstow’s finger injury means he will play as a specialist batsman with Jos Buttler taking over behind the stumps.
