Sony launches flagship smartphone Xperia XZ3 with OLED display
It might be bleeding money left, right and centre when it comes to smartphones but that’s clearly not stopping Sony from launching new devices. A day before the annual tech trade show IFA kicks off, the Japanese consumer electronics giant has unveiled its latest smartphone, the Xperia XZ3. It comes as the successor to the Xperia XZ2 and features Snapdragon 845 processor. Not only that, the smartphone will come with Android Pie out-of-the-box.

Sony Xperia XZ3 specifications, availability and more

Sony hasn’t revealed the launch price of the Xperia XZ3 but the Xperia XZ2 had a slightly over-the-top pricing. The Xperia XZ2 is priced at an astounding Rs 73,000 in the Indian market. Coming to the Xperia XZ3, Sony has revealed that the smartphone will be available in select markets from end of September, which could actually make it one of the first devices to come with Android Pie.

Surprisingly, Sony has said that the smartphone will have two options: single-SIM and dual-SIM. The smartphone features a 6-inch QHD+ HDR OLED Triluminos display. There’s 18:9 aspect ratio and comes protected with Corning Glass 5. The Xperia XZ2 had near similar specs but didn’t have an OLED display.

Powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC processor, the smartphone has 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, which can be further expanded up to 512GB using a microSD card.

As far as cameras are concerned, Sony Xperia XZ3 features a 19MP rear camera with Exmor RS sensor, f/2.0 aperture and the capability to shoot 960fps super slow motion videos in FHD and HD. For selfies, there’s a 13MP front camera with 23mm wide angle lens that has AI capabilities.

As is the case with most Sony smartphones, the Xperia XZ3 is also IP65/68 certified for water and dust resistance. There’s a 3330mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 and has a Smart Stamina mode.

The smartphone comes in the following colour variants: Black, White Silver, Forest Green, and Bordeaux Red.
