LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday cautioned BSP against getting into an alliance with the SP ahead of Lok Sabha elections due next year saying “the progeny of a snake will always be a snake”. Yogi's fresh attack on the tie-up comes months after he termed the alliance between the two UP's regional giants as ‘unholy'.
“BSP kehti hai ki humari doori waisi hai…pata nahi kitni doori hai..lekin main ek baat keh sakta hun ki saanp ka baccha saanp hi hota hai (BSP claims it is maintaining a distance from SP…We don’t know much about it but progeny of a snake will remain a snake),” Yogi said, while speaking on the floor of the house on Wednesday.

The BJP, especially Yogi, has been reminding BSP chief Mayawati about the state guest house incident of 1995 when she was attacked by SP supporters after BSP withdrew support to the then SP government headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav.

While campaigning during bye-elections for Gorakhpur and Phulpur parliamentary seats in March earlier this year, Yogi had equated coming together of SP and BSP as an alliance of `ker' (Banana) and `ber' (Indian Jujube), which don't get together. The alliance, nevertheless, had defeated the BJP on both seats.

On Wednesday, Yogi said that it was high time for the BSP to learn from the past experience and reconsider about getting into an alliance with the SP. ``Har baar thokar kha ke seekhna nahi chahiye...(Should not one learn only after falling)?'' Yogi asked. He had given asimilar remark after BSP candidate Bhim Rao Ambedkar lost the Rajya Sabha elections after SP could not transfer its votes in sufficient numbers.

He also attacked the Congress for its attempt to get closer to SP, saying that the attitude of the grand old party was like “Begani shaadi mein abdullah deewana” (behaving like uninvited guests).
