Patna : RJD president Lalu Prasad, who surrendered before the special CBI judge, S S Prasad at Ranchi, was shifted to private ward of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on the orders of the High Court.
Lalu, who is convicted in four out of six fodder scam cases against him for fraudulent withdrawal of government money from Doranda, Chaibasa, Deoghar and Dumka treasuriers during his tenure as chief minister and finance minister of undivided Bihar, was taken to the Birsa Munda central jail earlier, where he was examined by doctors.
The Jharkhand High Court last week had cancelled his provisional bail and directed him to surrender and suggested the jail authorities to get him shifted to RIMS on the advice of the doctors.
RIMS doctors would remain in contact with the doctors of Asian Institute of Heart diseases in Mumbai where he was admitted for about a month. He had undergone treatment in All India Institute of Medical Sciences too.
Two national vice president of his party – Raghuwansh Prasad Singh and Shivanand Tiwary were present when Lalu surrendered before the court.
