Bhopal: New anomalies in recruitment tests for assistant professors conducted by MPPSC (Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission) are surfacing every day. After incongruity in applying various quotas provisions in the jobs, now deletion and cancelation of about 200 questions in the amended model answer key has created a row.
Botany assistant professors aspirants are anguished as Model Answer Key, published on MP public service commission’s website on 22 June was amended in a little more than months’ time on August 1 and appeared as ‘Yeh antim uttar kunji hai.’
Earlier aspirants have submitted written objections on the erroneous questions and or answers which surfaced in their examination. PSC had to constitute a committee of subject expert to look into the complaints given the large number of objections.
Afterwards it published a final amended model answer key under guidance of an expert committee on August 1. It was also published on the commission’s website with clarification that results would be prepared on the basis of this amended answer key.
Activists also criticize the language used in the release order for amendment. The order consists of ten lines and stresses on ‘yeh antim kunji hai’ (This is the last answer key) in three separate lines again and again. “This raises suspicion on intentions of the commission as it lays serious impact on the results” said Vinayak Parihar, a whistle blower.
Applicants keeping a close watch on results and the process claim those more than 200 questions were cancelled in various subjects. Activists allege that 13 questions were deleted/ cancelled from organic chemistry paper while 11 questions were cancelled in Botany subject. Ten questions each were cancelled from physics and bio-chemistry question paper. Seven questions were deleted from mathematics, two from home science and eight questions were deleted from chemistry question paper.
Each paper consists of 200 questions of 2 marks each. “After deletion of questions PSC has evaluated the paper after reducing the maximum marks. For instance physics question paper that originally had 200 questions was reduced to 190 questions for marking after objection and deletion of ten questions,” said DP Singh, an activist. Applicants say that those who opted for the right answer were left disadvantaged.
Specially-able candidates left without quota
Activists allege that injustice has been done with specially-able and unreserved applicants as well. Unreserved category was opened for applicants from other states also. 33 out of 49 unreserved posts for assistant professor for English subject were left vacant on a claim that the deserving candidates were not available and the posts were opened for all categories.
No posts were reserved for the specially-able candidates in English, chemistry, physics, commerce etc subjects in reserve category. “The question is that if specially-abled had no quota in unreserved category why were their forms accepted?,” asked activists.
