LUCKNOW: Lucknow University will get its first mini-stadium by the year-end. It will offer students advanced sports facilities and a multi-purpose sports ground. The detailed project report and the artist’s impression of the upcoming
stadium were finalized during national sports day celebrations held at LU on Wednesday.
To be made with a budget of Rs 1.3 crore, the mini-stadium will be multi-purpose with a seating capacity of around 500. It will be made near LU gate no.1 on the tennis ground.
“The mini-stadium will be built with the help of financial assistance given by politicians
Neeraj Bora and
Mohsin Raza. The university was in the need of a stadium so that students can be trained in various games,” said Prof
Neeraj Jain of the physical education department.
He said the multi-purpose stadium will not only help train students in a number of sports but will also help in hosting state-level championships, various sports camps and meets. Bad weather conditions will not affect sports activities on the campus as it will be an all-weather closed stadium, he added.
Jain said the stadium will be designed to suit a wide range of sports requirements, starting from university-level sports meets to national championships.
The stadium will use soundproof technology and infrastructure of steel and other detachable features so that the stadium can be modified and changed as per requirement, he said.
