The State government has extended the deadline for processing of the applications under the Layout Regularisation Scheme yet again.
October 31 has been set as the latest deadline for disposal of pending LRS applications, which has been intimated through a memo to departments concerned on Thursday. The earlier deadline was August 31.
The extension will be applicable to only those applications where the balance fee is due from the applicants, or where No Objection Certificate is pending from other departments such as Revenue or Irrigation, or where the applicants have not rendered the initial payment of ₹10,000 at the time of filing the application.
The memo issued by principal secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Arvind Kumar, also directed the officials to immediately issue final notice for payment of balance LRS amount or initial amount as the case may be, by September 30, and to give LRS proceedings by October 15.
In respect of applications which are pending for want of NOCs, directions have been issued to the Planning staff of the urban development authorities or the urban local bodies to pursue with the Revenue or Irrigation authorities and dispose of the pending applications by October 31.
Data from HMDA revealed that from a total of 1.76 lakh applications, more than one lakh have been approved, and over 61,000 rejected.
Only 52 applications have been identified with shortfall of documents, while 1,694 are in process. A total of 2,237 applications have been rejected for want of NOC from respective authorities, and in respect of 9,833 applications, initial fee was not paid.
The amount collected by HMDA through the scheme is close to ₹698 crore.
The LRS was first announced in 2016, with December 31 as the initial deadline. Since then, the scheme has been extended by way of a number of fresh deadlines.
