Invest in U’khand, CM to Maha bizmen

Terming Uttarakhand as the spiritual nerve-centre of India, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that the commercial capital of the country, Mumbai, should come forward to invest generously in the Himalayan State.

He was in Mumbai to boost investment opportunities for Uttarakhand as part of a promotional campaign for ‘Destination Uttarakhand: Investors Summit’ on Wednesday.

Addressing a road show organised on the occasion, Rawat said that there are vast investment opportunities in Uttarakhand. From the point of view of nature and human resources, Uttarakhand provides a favourable environment for industry, he said. 

Enthused by the participation of the representatives of the trade and film industry of Maharashtra on the occasion, Rawat said that since Mumbai is economic and entertainment capital of the country, the interest shown by the investors here is an encouraging one which will help in making Uttarakhand a popular destination for the investors and the filmmakers.

He added that constant efforts are being made to promote tourism in the state and the state has recently ensured that no fee is charged for the films to be shot here which has led to the shooting of many films in Uttarakhand over the past one year and half. 

The state tourism minister Satpal Maharaj who was also present during the road show said that there are vast opportunities of investment in the tourism sector in the state.

He said that new tourism circuits like ‘Navgrah Circuit’ and ‘Buddha circuit’ are being made and a plan to revive five- thousands- year old Char Dham Yatra on foot is on the anvil. Speaking on the occasion, the state chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh said that there are many opportunities for industrial growth in Uttarakhand where basic infrastructural facilities and investor- friendly policies are in place. There is a sound policy for ease of doing business besides several opportunities for startups and new entrepreneurs in the state, he said. Principal secretary, Industry, Manisha Panwar said that Uttarakhand government is focusing on developing a film city while secretary, Tourism Dilip Jawalkar focused on tourism potential of the state during the road show.

Jawalkar added that the state government has made a dedicated film policy which is aimed at encouraging film shooting in the state. Among others present on the occasion were the finance secretary Amit Singh Negi, managing director of SIDCUL Saujanya and industrial advisor to the  chief minister, K S Panwar.

The chairman of Maharashtra chapter of CII and representatives of Blue Star Limited, Tata Motors Limited, Avada Group, Vertive Energy Private Limited, Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India Limited, Mahindra Group, India, Bangladesh and Nepal Craft Company Limited, RPG Enterprises,  Hinduja Renewable Power, Hinduja Housing Finance and Ashok Leyland Limited were present during the road show.
