Liverpool have come up against Italian opponents in seven of their last 11 European campaigns - and this trend could be set to continue in this year’s Champions League group stage.
The way the pots have been selected means the Reds have a 62% chance of drawing an Italian side in this season’s competition report the Liverpool Echo.
Manchester United and Tottenham are both in Pot 2 with Serie A sides Napoli and Roma.
Teams from the same country can’t be drawn in the same group as one another so that means Liverpool have a 33% chance of drawing one of the Italian teams from Pot 2.

Manchester City are in the same pot as Juventus, which gives Liverpool a 14% chance of drawing them.
Inter are in Pot 4 with no other English sides, so Liverpool have a 13% chance of drawing them.
Overall it gives Liverpool a 60% chance of drawing an Italian side in the group stages.
Liverpool have a 45% chance of drawing a German side, a 43% chance of drawing a Spanish one, a 33% chance of drawing a Portuguese club and a 14% chance of a French one.
