Four cyber criminals arrested, Giridih district

Giridih police arrested 4 persons involved in several cases of cybercrime. The accused has been identified as Chhotu Mandal, Ritesh Kumar Mandal, Rajendra Mandal and Rinku Mandal -- all belong to Phursadih village in  Bengabad in Giridih district, said SDPO Jitwahan Oraon.

They were held near Phursadih village in Bengabad by a special squad headed by Bengabad officer-in charge, Faiz Rabbani and Cyber inspector, Shankar Prasad Jha, on Tuesday night. Six mobiles, six passbooks, a cheque book, and 7 duplicate SIM cards were recovered while they have already done transactions worth Rs 16 lakh, said Oraon.

“The accused used to target innocent people and dailywage workers and the women posing them as the bank manager and asking them their account number and pin numbers,” added the SDPO.

SP, Giridih, Surendra Kumar Jha said the accused operated remotely from mobile SIM cards issued on fake ID cards. Posing as senior manager or bank official they cheated gullible women by asking their bank account number and ATM pin number.

They came to police net after an innocent villager filed a complaint with the Bengabad police that they were cheated by the fraud cyber criminals. Police said as more than 30 cases of cybercrime frauds were registered against the accused at various police stations Giridih, said police sources.
