TRICHY: A 23-year-old woman was found dead, with a stab injury on her abdomen, in her home at Veerapatti in Pudukkottai district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
The murdered has been identified as Lavanya, wife of Nehru, 28.

Police said she might have been murdered in the early hours of Wednesday. But the murder came to light only in the afternoon when neighbours saw her 18-month-old son wandering around the house. They entered the home, found the dead body and alerted the Thirumayam police.

The police said they suspected it was a case of murder for gain as her gold chain and other valuables were missing.

Lavanya and her son were alone at home, said inspector of Thirumayam police station Manoharan. They were living in her parents’ home in Sivaganga district as her husband was working in Singapore. She came to Veerapatti a few days ago to attend a function.

The police registered a case and were investigating.
