A virtual tour of Mysuru Dasara at key international airports across the country will be arranged for international tourists to get to know what the celebrations are about and to encourage them to visit Mysuru to experience the annual spectacle.
Mumbai, Kolkata, New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram were among the cities where the virtual tour of Dasara has been planned besides carrying out promotions in other cities.
At the Dasara High-Power Committee meeting here, chaired by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, the Tourism Department listed out what can be done for promotions and the virtual tour was on the agenda.
The meeting also discussed approaching the Railways for Dasara promotions on its long-distance trains that originate from Mysuru, such as Hazrath Nizamuddin (Delhi) which has over 40 stops throughout the journey.
This year too, online sale of tickets and gold cards will be encouraged and a decision will be made on printing passes as required for distribution to invitees. Besides a job mela, events at Chunchankatte and Somanathapura have been included.
The Chief Minister, on the Dasara Air Show that had been stopped for many years, said efforts will be made to revive the show. There won’t be any last-minute attempts to get the show on but efforts will begin much earlier, he said. Sources said the district administration is already in touch with the people from the Indian Air Force in Bengaluru on the subject and a “positive response” has come from the other side.
With surplus power generation, illumination will be taken up on a bigger scale, the CM said.
