Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is heading towards its annual product launch event. At the event, the company is expected to launch an army of products and among them one wearable product is also being expected.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the alleged Apple Watch 4 will be compatible with existing straps which means that all straps that were available for Apple Watch Series 1, 2 and 3 will still work with the new device as well. The report cites people familiar with the product who revealed that the new Apple Watches will resemble the current devices but will offer larger displays, even though their overall size will remain the same. The larger display will be achieved with an increase in the screen space "that go nearly edge-to-edge."
If this is true, it will be easier for existing Apple Watch users to upgrade to the latest version of the Watch, especially since Apple's official bands are an added cost for the Apple Watch user.
To recall, former KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had revealed that Apple in all likelihood will launch a redesigned Apple Watch Series 4. Kuo, who has a good track record when it comes to Apple-related rumours, told 9to5 Mac that the new watch from Apple will have larger display along with better health monitoring.
According to him, the Apple Watch 4 will have “15% larger display and a more trendy form factor design.”
The alleged Apple Watch 4 is expected to run on WatchOS 5 -- the latest operating system for Apple Watch wearables announced at its developer conference — WWDC 2018. The new watchOS 5 brings a range of new features including Walkie-Talkie app, Apple Podcasts and support third-party apps on the Siri watch face. The watchOS 5 will be available as a free update for all Apple Watch wearables starting with the Apple Watch Series 1.
