Man thrashes wife to death in Cuttack dist

A woman was bludgeoned to death by her husband on suspicion of extramarital affairs at Uttarsahi village under the Gobindpur police station in Cuttack district on Monday night.

Sources said one Balaram Nayak was staying with his wife Damayanti separately from his parents due to family dispute. However, Balaram was suspecting his wife of cheating on him. Even, he used to fight with Damayanti frequently accusing her of having an illicit relationship with a neighbour.

On the fateful night, both had a heated argument over the same issue. In a fit of rage Balaram killed his wife by hitting her head with a grinding stone. He then fled and took shelter at a relative’s house at Jarapada village in Tangi area.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident. The cops managed to nab Balram from Jarapada village in the morning and are interrogating him.
