Devadanapatti police have registered a case against A. Murugesan, 28, of Colony Street at Perumalkoilpatti in Theni district under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for having allegedly abused a 16-year-old girl.
The police said that the case was registered against Murugesan based on a complaint filed by the victim. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the accused had lured the girl on the promise of marrying her when she was alone at home on a few occasions and sexually abused her, the police said.
As the girl realised that the accused did not have the intention to marry her, she lodged a complaint.
The police are searching for Murugesan.
