API data reportedly show U.S. crude supplies little changed for the week

The American Petroleum Institute reported Tuesday that U.S. crude supplies barely budged for the week ended Aug. 24, climbing 38,000 barrels, according to sources. The API data also showed supplies of gasoline up 21,000 barrels, while distillate stockpiles rose 982,000 barrels, sources said. Supply data from the Energy Information Administration will be released Wednesday. Analysts polled by S&P Global Platts expect the EIA to report a fall of 1 million barrels in crude supplies. They also forecast a supply decline of 160,000 barrels for gasoline and an increase of 1.7 million barrels for distillates. October crude CLV8, +0.03% was at $68.53 a barrel in electronic trading, unchanged from the settlement on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
