AIADMK presidium chairman E. Madhusudanan is learnt to be unhappy over the ‘domination’ of a personality in the party, and would raise the issue with Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Tuesday.
On Monday, Mr. Madhusudanan met AIADMK coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, with whom he had sided during the rebellion against Jayalalithaa’s former aide V.K. Sasikala in 2017, and Local Administration Minister S.P. Velumani. He is learnt to have shared certain grievances with them.
A close aide of Mr. Madhusudanan told The Hindu on Monday night that the AIADMK leader was expected to hold a press conference on Tuesday at the party office in Tondiarpet, after meeting Mr. Palaniswami, who is also co-coordinator of the party.
In the R.K. Nagar byelection in December last, he was the party candidate, but lost to rebel leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran by a margin of about 41,000 votes. Mr. Madhusudanan had even submitted a letter to the party, complaining against some leaders, considered close to Mr. Palaniswami for having sabotaged his chances of victory in the byelection. But, no action was apparently taken on the basis of his complaint, even though the party had expelled several supporters of Mr. Dhinakaran from the party immediately after the by-election outcome.
