No file related to CCTV installation pending with L-G office: Baijal

| | New Delhi

Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal on Monday clarified that no file pertaining to installation of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras is pending with the LG office.

"A misleading impression is being created through certain media posts and releases that the file for installation of CCTVs in Delhi by GNCTD is pending with the office of the LG," Baijal issued a statement from Raj Niwas.

Earlier, in July addressing a gathering, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal  had declared that hat no mandatory permission should be required from police to install CCTV cameras, as he publicly tore apart a report of a panel set up by LG Anil Baijal on working out the guidelines for installation and monitoring of surveillance cameras.

The matter to install CCTVs with the consultation of RWAs has also been discussed in Delhi assembly monsoon sessions.  It may be recalled  that the LG has constituted a committee headed by Principal Secretary (Home) to look into the matter of CCTV installation across the national capital as it involved law and order.
