S Kanishk, a student of Crescent Castle Public School, has won the first prize in the National Space Science Essay Competition, organized by Go4Guru, which has paved the way for him to take part in the international conference.

Son of an agriculturist, Kanishk chose the topic ‘If I happen to meet an alien in Mars’ for the essay competition and let his imagination do the rest.

About 3,000 students submitted their essays online, from which 500 were shortlisted. Nasa picked the best 300 essays of which Kanishk is awarded the first prize - the national winner.
