Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh has urged the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission and Chief Minister Shviraj Singh Chouhan for immediate suspension of Narsinghpur district collector who violated human rights and misused his power to flout orders of General Administration Development (GAD).

Singh raised the issue of 61-year-old Pramod Purohit who was jailed after district collector Abhay Verma got annoyed over his request for construction of road in his village during public hearing and ordered for registering case against Purohit.

Ajay Singh has written letter to Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission Justice Narendra Jain and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

In his letter he had provided example of an elderly person Suryanarayan Garg whose application was thrown and he was scolded by district collector and told to leave in Ajmer in Rajasthan in the year 2015 in which National Human Rights Commission took cognizance and ordered departmental enquiry and a penalty of Rs 10000. The incident of Narsinghpur is of more serious nature as the Purohit was held in prison for four days which is objectionable and misuse of power by district collector without any fear and openly.

He also gave reference of suspension of district collector Bhind in the year 2015 who misbehaved with a woman; after the incident collector was suspended with immediate effect and in Narsinghpur issue 61-year-old man was jailed on the instructions of district collector. The Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission has also been appealed to take cognizance in the matter and strict action should be taken on district collector and demanded Chief Minister to remove district collector.
