The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam on Monday said electricity bills are being generated according to the rates prescribed by the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC).

A spokesman of the Nigam said that the viral message on social media regarding issuing of electricity bills every month instead of bimonthly was false and baseless.

He said that through this viral message, delusion was being created among consumers regarding electricity rates that bills of excessive amount were being charged through miscalculation. However, the truth is that the bimonthly billing circle does not cause any additional burden on consumers and monthly bills are generated in all slabs. For example: rate of Rs 2.70 per unit has been fixed for consumer using up to 50 units of electricity and for depositing electricity bill bimonthly, the rate would remain same for consumption up to 100 units.

To facilitate all consumers in the state, the electricity rates are fixed by the HERC and Bijli Vitran Nigams have no interference in electricity rates.

The electricity bill is charged once in two months by the power utilities.

Therefore, consumers of small and poor families’ gets freedom from depositing electricity bill every month and they also get enough time to deposit the bill.
