State govt. will collapse in a month: Sadananda

more-in

Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation D.V. Sadananda Gowda claimed here on Tuesday that the State government will collapse on its own within the next fortnight or a month.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Gowda said the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) have formed the coalition government not in the interest of people but only to keep the BJP away.

He alleged that the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) leaders are selfish and can go to any extent for the sake of power. Mr. Siddaramaiah agreed to form the coalition government in the State succumbing to pressure from the Congress high command. He had mentally prepared to topple the coalition government soon after its formation. Mr. Siddaramaiah’s recent statements have proved it, he said. Mr. Gowda said that Mr. Siddaramaiah was day dreaming of becoming the Chief Minister. The Congress cannot form the government on its own. The BJP will never support it, he said.

The former BJP Chief Minister said that the State government should declare compensation to arecanut growers whose plantations have been hit by “mahali” or “kole roga” (fruit rot disease) owing to heavy rains. Coffee plantations too have been damaged in the rain. The Union government is ready to help the State government if it makes an appeal, he said.
