A team of scientists from the U.S.-based Geotechnical Extreme Events Reconnaisance (GEER) Association is arriving here on September 3 to investigate the impact of the torrential rains that wreaked havoc across Kerala. The delegation is led by Thomas Oommen, Associate Professor, Michigan Technological University and Richard Coffman, Associate Professor, University of Arkansas. Sajin Kumar K.S., Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, University of Kerala, will be coordinating the visit. The week-long study is sponsored by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF).
