Bhopal: District and Sessions court, on Monday, awarded life imprisonment to Pampum of Bihar in Rai Madhukar Sahay murder case. Sahay was the brother-in-law of ex-CBI director Ranjit Sinha.
District Judge Sanjay Shukla convicted Pampum and awarded life imprisonment under sections 307 and 397 of the IPC. Sahay worked as administrative officer of Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) and his wife Dr Anjali Sahay worked as Psychiatrist with the BMHRC. Pampum stabbed Sahay and robbed Rs 20 lakh from his house at Siddharth Lake City Society on June 13, 2017 under the Piplani police station.
BMHRC administrative officer Rai Madhukar Sahay was held captive by his domestic help Prem and attacked with sharp-edged weapon and scissors by Pampum. They later escaped with valuables worth Rs 20 lakh. The incident took place between 9 and 11 am on June 13, 2017 when the victim was at home.
The accused chained the dogs outside the house and committed the crime. Victim’s wife found him in pool of blood on return around 4 pm. The domestic help was hired on May 29 through a placement agency in Delhi.
