Stock market update: TCS, Infosys keep Nifty IT index in the green

NEW DELHI: IT stocks Infibeam Avenues (up 3.97 per cent), Oracle Financial Services Software (up 1.38 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services (up 0.89 per cent), Infosys (up 0.83 per cent), KPIT Technologies (up 0.72 per cent) and HCL Technologies (up 0.21 per cent) were trading with gains in afternoon trade on Tuesday.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.53 per cent up at 15,597.8 around 02:55 pm.

However, Mindtree (down 0.92 per cent), Tata Elxsi (down 0.33 per cent), Wipro (down 0.14 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (down 0.13 per cent) were incurring losses.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 36.75 points at 11,728.7, while the BSE Sensex was up 162.76 points at 38856.87.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

Hindalco Industries, Adani Ports, Maruti Suzuki, Reliance Industries, NTPC and Tata Steel were among the top gainers in the Nifty index.

However, GAIL (India), YES Bank, HPCL, ONGC, Eicher Motors and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories were among the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
