Asian Games, Live Updates, Day 10: India Win Silver in Compound Archery, PV Sindhu To Battle Tai Tzu Ying For Gold Soon

Volleyball: India have won the first set against Pakistan 25-21 in their men’s volleyball pool match.

Badminton: Jonatan Christie has beaten Chou Tien Chen 21-18 20-22 21-15 to win the Men’s Singles Title at the Asian Games.

Silver for our women’s archery team after what was a real close final. Time now to shift to the badminton where PV Sindhu will have to play out her skin for the gold. Not the most convincing form in her last 2 matches which went to 3 games, and a nightmarish head to head record against Tai Tzu. Sindhu last beat her at the Rio Olympics in August 2016. Can she make it another memorable August? 

Table tennis: The Indian men’s team who are playing the semi-final of the team event against South Korea have not started well. G Sathiyan has lost the first game against Sangsu Lee 11-9, 9-11, 3-11, 3-11 to give the Koreans a 1-0 lead.

SILVER MEDAL IN ARCHERY! 

Archery: India will finish with the Silver medal in the women's compound Archery final after they lost to the World Champions South Korea. India faltered right at the end and lost 231-228. India needed three 10s in the final shots but failed and will settle for second prize. 

Archery: It is a tight battle between India and South Korea. The Koreans, who are normally pulling out the 10s at this stage have misfired and India have the chance to take this away in the final few shots. India need three top shots to level scores. 30 points and three shots.

Archery: Here's how the numbers stack up in terms of scores for both India and South korea with each side still having 6 shots to go in the final round of the final. 

Archery: After Round 3, Jyothi and Madhumita have brought India right back into the battle against South Korea in this battle for the Gold medal. The scores are tied at 173-173. India are up against the best in the world and do have their task cut out. 

Archery: 144-144 now, the Indian team gets three 10s in a row to level things up!

Jyothi Surekha Vennam is going to be the most crucial cog in the wheel for India’s women archers. Neck and neck scores at the moment. Madhumita and Muskan need more 10s.

Archery: At the halfway mark, scores are locked on 115 each. Neck and neck here, and every point matters from now on. The women's team is already assured of a medal, but they'd want the colour to be gold.

Volleyball: India also currently leads Pakistan in their men's 7-12 match at the Asian Games.

Table Tennis: India is also currently taking on Korea in the men's team semi-final tie. A win here would ensure a table tennis silver medal for the team.

The Indian women's team's compound archery gold medal match is now underway.

Both Swapna Barman and Purnima Hembram are now in podium positions in the women's heptathlon event. Barman in first and Hembram in third!

On her return from Indonesia where she became the first Indian woman wrestler to bag an Asiad gold, the grappler exchanged rings with her long time boyfriend, Somvir Rathi, outside the arrival gates of the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, in the presence of family and friends.

Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying has proved to be a nemesis for India's star shuttlers but P V Sindhu said she has a strategy in place to outwit the world number one in the Asian Games final on Tuesday.

Precursor to the women's badminton singles final between PV Sindhu and Tai Tzu Ying is the men's final which is currently underway between Christie Jonatan of Indonesia and Chou Tienchen of Chinese Taipei. Jonatan currently leads 8-5 in the first game.

 Soft Tennis: India's Jay Meena wins his tie against Sophorn Kann by a margin of 4-3.

Barman's performance has been impressive, given that her facial injury has given her significant discomfort through the morning. She will now go into the next discipline of the heptathlon as the leader of the field.

Barman has played to her strengths. After an unimpressive performance in the women's hurdles, she has bounced back into medal contention.

Sapna Barman is now leading the field in the women's heptathlon, courtesy her performances in the high jump. She has displayed the best technique out of all the athletes so far in the high jump, and jumps into a 41 point lead.

Women's Heptathlon High Jump: Swapna Burman seems to be struggling with a facial injury, as she clutches her face after every jump and can be seen getting medical attention on the sidelines. She is currently in fourth position.

Squash: The Indian women's team comprising of Joshna Chinappa, Tanvi Khanna, Dipika Pallikal and Sunayana Kuruvilla trump Thailand 3-0 in their Pool B encounter.

Women's Heptathlon High Jump: Swapna Burman topples the bar as she aimed to jump 1.70m, after choosing to skip the 1.67m mark.
