Charges laid over two fatal Sunshine Coast crashes
Queensland Police have laid charges over two separate fatal crashes in the Sunshine Coast hinterland earlier this year.
A 65-year-old Kidaman Creek man has been charged over a collision on the Eumundi-Noosa Road on June 24.
Police allege the man was travelling west when his Toyota Prado crossed double lines and collided with an east-bound Mazda, which was driven off the road and down an embankment.
The Mazda driver, a 44-year-old Bald Hills man, died at the scene.
The Kidaman Creek man was charged on August 27 with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and will appear at Noosa Magistrates Court on September 18.
In a separate incident, forensic crash unit officers charged a 39-year-old Nambour man with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while adversely affected by a substance.
Police allege the man was driving west on Maleny-Kenilworth Road at Witta on July 13 when the man lost control of the vehicle and crashed into trees.
The passenger, a 22-year-old man, died at the scene.
The Nambour man will appear before Maroochydore Magistrates Court on September 24.
