Born in Allahabad Dhyan Chand is considered as one of the greatest hockey players of all time. Dhyan Chand is most remembered for his goal-scoring fests. The legendary player brought glory to nation by winning three gold medals in Olympics in field hockey. He joined the Indian army in 1922 and came to prominence when he toured New Zealand with the army team in 1926. Dhyan Chand was also known as “the Wizard” for his superb ball control, in 1948 Chand played his final international match, having scored more than 400 goals during his international career. In 1956 he retired from the army as 'Major' Dhyan Chand.
