Fund-raiser concert for Kerala flood victims on September 1

Velammal Educational Trust donates ₹ 1 crore

More individuals organisations and have donated relief for flood-ravaged Kerala. On Monday, Velammal Educational Trust donated ₹1 crore on behalf of the management, staff, students and parents. Trust chairman M.V.Muthuramalingam handed over the cheque to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

United by Water, a relief concert for Kerala by popular musicians and hosted by playback singer Sujatha, will be held at The Music Academy mini hall from 6.30 p.m. on Saturday. Performances would be by Chandan, Jaya, Sudeep, Prashanti, Vinod, Akhila, Ganga, Reshmi and Viswanathan. All payments collected would be towards The Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. The State Committee of the CPI(M) donated ₹25 lakh to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. In a statement here, State secretary of the party, K. Balakrishnan said that this was the second instalment and the contribution now stood at ₹45 lakh. Various district committees of the party have sent ₹2 crore worth supplies to relief camps in that State. The Tamil Film Producer Council donated a sum of ₹10 lakh to the Kerala Minister Distress Relief Fund.

India Cements extended their services to about 42,000 distressed persons in Kerala by distributing goods worth ₹ 32 lakh including rice, groceries, toiletries and clothes. FMCG firm CavinKare announced delivery of its products worth over ₹70 lakh to Kerala. The company donated a variety of its branded products including milkshake, lassi, fruit drinks, pickles, shampoo and coconut oil to those in need towards relief.

Motherhood Hospitals will donate ₹10 from every consultation from August 21 to September 20.

A container with relief materials for Kerala contributed by Chennai Port Unions, terminal operators, National Association of Container Freight Stations, Steamer Agents Association, Canara Bank, Custom Brokers Association, Chennai Port Stevedores Association, IDBI bank, Vijaya Bank was flagged off by Cyril C. George, Deputy Chairman, Chennai Port Trust on Sunday.

Bajaj Auto will conduct free service camps in Kerala for motorcycles from August 28 to September 4 at its dealerships in that State. Bajaj two-wheeler owners are requested to bring in their flood-affected vehicles to the nearest authorised Bajaj Auto dealership where engine flushing and replacing of minor components, said a release here.
