High Commissioner of Republic of Seychelles to India Philippe Le Gall today expressed his deep sadness over heavy loss of human lives in the devastating floods in Kerala.
Describing as 'terrible' the material damage caused by the deluge earlier this month, he paid tributes to all those helping the families of the victims in Kerala "in such painful circumstances."
The envoy was delivering a speech at the Pondicherry University on the 248th anniversary of arrival of Indian diaspora in Seychelles.
He recalled the arrival of five Indians from Puducherry 248 years ago at Seychelles, an archipelago in the Indian Ocean, and said it was the beginning of historic and emotional connection between the country and India.
