India’s first biofuel-powered flight completes maiden trip, lands in Delhi
Source: TNNIndia’s first ever biofuel-powered flight landed at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport from Dehradun. And as as SpiceJet’s biofuel-powered plane flew from Dehradun to Delhi, India has joined the elite club of countries. 75% aviation turbine fuel and 25% biofuel was used in the Bombardier Q-400 SpiceJet aircraft. The 72-seater Bombardier Q-400 aircraft is powered by a blended fuel, made partially from renewable resources such as agricultural residues, bio-degradable fractions of industrial and municipal wastes and non-edible oils. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan and Civil Avaiation Minister Suresh Prabhu were present at the airport tarmac.
