The CBI on Monday submitted an 'action taken report' (ATR) in a sealed cover to the Patna High Court on the alleged mass rapes at the Muzaffarpur shelter home.
A High Court bench headed by Chief Justice M.R. Shah had also directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to respond on the sudden transfer of a CBI Superintendent, J.P. Mishra, probing the crime. The Patna High Court is monitoring the CBI probe.
The CBI advocate on Monday informed the court that it has also submitted the report explaining the transfer of that officer in the sealed cover.
But the court questioned the CBI as to how its DIG, who was present in the court, managed to look after the work in three states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand while probing the Muzaffarpur shelter home case.
The court will hear the case on Tuesday.
J.P. Mishra, who was transferred to Patna barely two months ago, was last Tuesday shifted as the Superintendent in the office of the Deputy Inspector General (Patna Range).
Among those arrested and jailed for the multiple rapes is journalist Brajesh Thakur. Social Welfare Minister Manju Verma had to resign after it became known that her husband was in close touch with Thakur.
The Muzaffarpur horror came to light when the Bihar Social Welfare Department filed an FIR based on a social audit of the shelter home conducted by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.
