PATIALA: Police have booked a person for kidnapping a 14-year-old on the pretext of marriage. A complaint in this regard was lodged by the father of the minor girl.

The 14-year-old went missing on August 24. She had left her home for some work but failed to return. “The family members of the missing girl, at first, called her friends and asked their neighbours if they knew anything about the girl, but all in vain.

“As of now, the family is suspicious about a person, who was known to the minor girl. We have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code on the complaint of the girl’s father. The complainant’s family is economically unsound. The minor girl used to study in a private school. We have formed teams to rescue the girl,” said the investigation officer of the case.

On August 11, police had booked a person for kidnapping a 16-year-old girl on the pretext of a marriage. A case in this regard was registered at Tripuri police station. The girl’s father told cops that the accused used to stay on rent in their house.

Similarly, on August 16, police had booked a person for kidnapping a 17-year-old girl on the pretext of marriage. The girl left home on August 13 and did not return.
