AMBALA: The employees of Haryana Roadways on Monday held a gate meeting at
Ambala Cantonment, in which the All
Haryana Roadways Employee
Union senior leaders discussed and planned the upcoming
state-wide strike on September 5. The strategy for the upcoming strike was discussed among the employees, who also raised anti-Haryana Government slogans. The employees threatened that if the government does not discuss the demands and matter with them by September 5, the Haryana state will have to bear the cost of strike for an indefinite period of time.
The Haryana Roadways employee will again go on state-wide strike on September 5, for pressurizing the government to accept their demands. Earlier this month of August 7, the roadways employees held a state-wide strike causing inconvenience to the general public and also leading to losses to Haryana government. With the roadways workers going on strike, the general public will again face inconveniences for their travels in roadways buses.
Hari Narayan Sharma, state president, All Haryana Roadways Employee Union said, “The government had agreed to implement the decisions taken in the meeting with the joint action committee, and the decisions have not been implemented, therefore the union will go on strike on September 5. The decision which the Haryana government has taken to start 700 private buses on kilometre basis should be taken back, and every year nearly 1,000 buses should be added to the Haryana Roadways. The workers should be given technical pay scale and regular recruitments should be done. Earlier there were nearly 4,500 buses in Haryana roadways which have been reduced to only 4,200. The employee’s union stands against the privatization of the state transport department and making amendments in the Motor Vehicle Act.”
The employee’s union also declared that if the government does not talk before September 5, the strike can also go to an indefinite period of time, and the state government will be responsible for all the losses.
