Members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) demanded annulment of the “black” atrocity law and reservation system for maintaining togetherness in the society while celebrating the Raksha Bandhan amid religious fervour at Baji Rout Pravat Shakha at Dumduma here on Sunday.

Swayamsevaks tied Rakhis to each other’s hands and then held a discussion on the importance of observance of the Raksha Bandhan festival.

“Raksha Bandhan is not only a festival of sisters tying Rakshis to brothers’ hands but a festival of creation of an atmosphere of affection and togetherness in the society.

Hence the festival should not be limited to brothers and sisters, rather observed by all, irrespective of their economic and social statuses, to create a bond among themselves,” said Odisha Mahila Adhikar Manch convenor Banajabasini Tripathi.

Similarly, Baji Rout Pravat Shakha executive Pramod Kumar Bastia stressed on maintaining equality in the society.

“While casteism has gradually been fading away with modern-age education reforms, the Government’s black atrocity act is spreading poison of casteism in the society.

The reservation system should be stopped altogeher,” said Bastia.

He lamented saying the recent incident of an Army Colonel being trapped in the atrocity act and facing a lot of problems is a shame for all Indians.

“All Swayamsevaks must forget the regional, language and caste differences and go ahead with the ideologies of Doctorji and Gurugi in the interest of the nation,” advised Bastia.

Among others, Shakha Seva chief General Dinabandhu Sarangi, chief teacher Shreeram Abhishek Sahoo, Soumya Mishra, Rudranarayan Sahoo, Ganesh Satpathy, Ankit Dash, Abhijit Panigrahi, Jagan Bhai, Kalu Panigrahi, Swadesh Pattanaik and Akash Dash participated.
