A 15-year-old boy died after the car he was travelling in, driven by a friend, who is a juvenile, met with an accident near Ennore on Saturday morning.
The police have registered case against the father of the juvenile as he owns the car.
According to the police, Alex Raj, 45, is a resident of Nethaji Nagar in Ennore.
His 15-year-old son, a 10th standard student decided to go for a drive with five of his friends on Saturday morning, when Alex Raj was not at home.
Lost control
Alex’s son was driving the car and his friend Tamil Selvan with three others were seated in the rear seat. When the car reached Annai Sivagami Nagar on Ponneri Ennore Express Road around 2 p.m., he lost control of the car.
“The car swerved to the right and rammed against a vehicle unloading construction materials,” said a senior police officer.
In the impact, Tamil Selvan sustained head injuries and died on the spot.
The driver also sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital. A case has been registered with the Madhavaram traffic police.
“We have booked a case against Alex Raj and arrested him for negligence. We take action against the owner of vehicles who allow juveniles to drive the vehicle despite knowing the danger involved. In this case, a life has been lost,” said a police officer.
