Relief material for Kerala to set sail from Kolkata Port

Relief materials collected by institutions and individuals in the city for flood-ravaged are set to sail in a ship from Kolkata Port today.

"The relief materials will be sailing for the Kochi Port today on MV Chennai in two 20-feet containers," (KoPT) S told

The containers would be carried free of cost by the vessel from the here.

"It will take at least seven days to reach the Kochi Port and from there, the port authorities will help to get the relief materials distributed," Arunkumar said.

MV Chennai is a sister ship of the doomed MV Kolkata, which had been abandoned after extensive damage due to a fire.

Sister ships are typically of the same class and size, and owned by the same company.
