Doc death: CCTV footages reveal more details

Even as mystery still shrouds the death of doctor Rabinda Nath Rath at the railway station here on Friday night, CCTV footages revealed that he had taken an auto-rickshaw along with two youths after getting a phone call on the fateful night.

Later, he got down on the way and rode pillion of an unidentified biker to the railway station.

Family members of Dr Rath have demanded an investigation to ascertain the identity of the biker alleging that Rath was murdered in a pre-planned manner. Reports said Rath had spoken to the wife of a BMC worker at around 9 am and the phone number of the woman was saved as ‘Unknown hospital’.

Rath was found lying on the rail tracks with injury marks after a train left the platform-1 of the station at around 10.05 pm on Friday night. As per the CCTV footages at the city railway station, the doctor was seen entering the platform-1 of the station at 9.47 pm and walking up to one end of the platform while speaking on his mobile phone. Later at around 10.05 pm, his body was found on the railway tracks.
