Wrexham crashed to a first defeat of the season as they went down to a 1-0 loss at Damson Park to Solihull Moors .

Alex Gudger swept home the only goal of the game from close range in the 82nd minute to ensure the win for the home side.

Here Post sport writer Rob Griffiths runs his eye over a forgettable day for the Dragons.

Rob Lainton

Could do nothing about the goal and did well to keep out an earlier Adi Yussuf effort. 6

Kevin Roberts

Wrexham’s best outlet in attack as he got forward often on the right, solid defensively as well. 7

Manny Smith

Had been in imperious form, winning all his headers before being forced off with an injury after a collision in the air with Liam Daly. 6

Shaun Pearson

Lead by example with a solid showing at the back. 7

Mark Carrington

Moved to left-back and worked well to nullify his opposite number. 7

Luke Young

Solid in the middle, nothing more in a workman like showing. 6

Akil Wright in action for Wrexham AFC against Eastleigh

Akil Wright

Tireless in the middle, broke up Solihull’s play and worked to keep Wrexham ticking over. 7

Luke Summerfield

Worked hard, looked Wrexham’s most creative outlet, but was often outmuscled in the middle. 6

Rekeil Pyke

Struggled to have any impact despite doing a lot of hard yards off the ball. 6

Mike Fondop

Not really involved in the game. 5

Chris Holroyd

Had Wrexham’s best opportunity as he headed straight into the hands of Ryan Boot, and was otherwise not involved. 5

Doug Tharme (on for Smith on 29)

Solid on his early inclusion, rarely missed a beat at the back. 7

Scott Burgess (on for Summerfield on 60)

Did nothing after coming on to make his Dragons debut. 5

Jordan Maguire-Drew (on for Fondop on 69)

Likewise to Burgess, struggled to get into the game. 5
