Man missing after Lake Kununurra cliff jump found dead
The search for a missing man who jumped into the water from rocks at Lake Kununurra has ended in tragedy after divers located a body on Monday afternoon.
The man, believed to be in his thirties, was camping with three other men at the lake over the weekend when the group went for an early morning swim on Saturday.
“One of the men, a man aged in his 30s, jumped from a rock ledge into the water but failed to resurface,” a police spokesperson said.
His friends dived in to find him, but they were unable to locate him.
A large scale search was triggered by emergency services, and police, East Kimberley SES, Wyndham Marine Search and Rescue and the Water Corporation all assisted in trying to locate the man.
The police dive squad are expected to arrive at the location on Sunday, and a spokesperson said they located a body on Sunday afternoon believed to be that of the missing man.
