The Standing Committee Chairperson of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, Veena Virmani on Saturday directed officials to shift safai karamcharis staying in up to 385 houses in Rohini Sector 4 and submit proposal for rebuilding their houses.
During an inspection, Ms. Virmani had found the houses to be in a “really bad shape”. She was accompanied by the local Councillor, chief engineer and other senior officials of the corporation, a release issued by the civic body stated.
Directing officials of the engineering department to submit proposals for rebuilding, she said.
“The safai karamcharis are the backbone of the corporation’s core work. It is our responsibility to provide basic and safe amenities to them.”
