The Regional Office of the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) here on Saturday predicted that several parts of the State would experience heavy rain over the next two days as a low pressure has formed over the region.

The IMD said under the influence of a cyclonic circulation, the low pressure area has formed over north Odisha, coastal areas of West Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal.

In next 24 hours, the system is likely to become more marked. Under its influence, moderate rain and thundershowers are likely to occur at most places, while heavy to very heavy rainfall will be experienced at some places in Dhenkanal,

Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Keonjhar districts, the IMD said.

Some areas in Puri, Ganjam, Khordha, Cuttack, Baleswar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Boudh, Sonepur and Sundargarh districts are likely to get heavy rainfall as well.

Besides, the weather office advised fishermen who have ventured out to deep sea to return to the coast. Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast and northwest Bay of Bengal on Sunday and the day after.
