Sona Kaushal Gupta selected for Dr B C Roy Award

Dr Sona Kaushal Gupta has been selected for this year’s prestigious Dr B C Roy Award in the category of social work in recognition of her monumental contribution in the realm of creating awareness against the substance abuse, now increasing being seen among the students and the youth. Her focus is mainly trained on empowering the students to say no to substance abuse and addressing their problems of stress and depression. She is now faculty to Government Doon Medical College in Dehradun. Recently during her study in and around Dehradun district regarding the substance abuse, she did a pilot study on students who were in 10+2 and who were pursuing graduation level studies. As per the study, 50% of the students had an exposure to substance abuse.

Dr Gupta is constantly spreading her message through articles in the leading national newspapers, including The Pioneer. 

She founded an organisation ‘PSYCHOLOGIACL ASSISTANCE AND REHABILITATION IN CHILDREN”.  This organisation is engaged in empowering the students to combat skillfully stresses of daily lifestyle and to be strong enough to say no to substance abuse at first go. Besides, it provides counseling to those who are entrapped in the menace of substance abuse and helps them come out of the vicious habit.

Contacted, Dr Gupta said on Saturday that she was very happy to be informed of her selection for the prestigious award. “My work for the betterment of the society for a space of over ten years has paid off,” she said.
