The management of Essel Mining under the Joda Mining Circle of Keonjhar district on Friday agreed to the workers’ demands of raising retirement age from 58 to 60 and revision of the wage agreements due  from 2016 after workers stopped the unit’s operation for five days.

KMFWU general secretary Maheswar Rout said the union had been trying to negotiate with the management since a long period,  but it was of no avail, for which the workers had  resorted to strike. After discussions for several times, the management at last agreed to the demands in the presence of AITUC State general secretary Ramakrishna Panda, AK Pati, AVP (HR), Barbil, and Subrat Mahapatra, Sr AVP (HR), Bhubaneswar.

He added agreement will be implemented with immediate effect.
