Two boys today drowned in a river while another was rescued in a critical condition near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
The trio was taking bath in the river near Dabraj bridge in Mankote sector when they slipped into the deep waters, a police official said.
The rescuers immediately swung into action and managed to pull out one of them, Waseem Akram, 21. He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment where his condition was stated to be "critical", he said.
Bodies of the other two boys, Umar Farooq, 15, and Mohammad Shakeel, 22, were fished out after hectic efforts. They were later handed over to their families for last rites after completion of formalities, the official said.
