Three members of a family have been killed in a road accident when the car carrying them fell into a river in Bhagalpur district, a police officer said today.
Shahkund Police Station SHO Sunil Kumar said that one person identified as Kislay Kumar swam to safety while his wife Rekha Devi (42), son Kunal Kashyap (13) and daughter Kavya Kashyap (10) died on the spot.
The car fell into Dhamna river at a place between Shahkund and Asarganj road after Kumar lost control over the vehicle, the SHO said.
The family was returning home at Nayagaon village from their relative's house at Pachkatiya village.
All the three bodies have been fished out from the river this morning and sent for post mortem at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital, Bhagalpur, the SHO said.
The car has also been taken out of the river.
